Spring Wedding At Sage Lodge | Morgan + Nathan

Beautiful design, amazing flowers by Mac's Floral, and bright colors make this wedding at Sage Lodge too fun not to share. Photography by Kristen Jean Photography.

"Nate and I met while working together in a local sporting goods store, the summer before I moved to Bozeman to attend college at Montana State University. As the story goes, Nate asked a colleague who I was the day we became co-workers. Soon after that, he then asked me out on a date before I left for Bozeman, and we hit it off. He would travel from Billings to Bozeman to visit me, and the rest is history! Before we knew it, 10 years had flown by.

On Christmas Eve 2018, Nate planned the sweetest moment with my whole family in attendance. We had spent the evening driving around town looking at Christmas lights, eating dinner, and opening gifts from one another. Once the living room was a mess with all the wrapping paper, Nate announced there was one last present for me. He asked me to check behind the snow village, and there I spotted a small gift bag. I stood in the middle of the room to unwrap this mystery present and found a ring pop candy inside. Behind me, Nate was already down on one knee, holding the engagement ring. Over the loud and very enthusiastic screaming that ensued from my sisters, Nate said, “You might like this ring a little better!” It was such a special proposal, and it was so thoughtfully planned out. Especially since my family was there to witness it.

As I planned our wedding, I knew I wanted to include bright colors and designs from Rifle Paper Co. Those that know me well know my love for anything from Rifle Paper Co. I found a pair of shoes that you will see in our photo gallery that helped inspire the “Garden Party” theme that I had been envisioning. I took this dream to Katie Bennett at Mac's Floral and Cassie Lagreca at Better To Gather, and they made my vision come to life. They exceeded all of my expectations with this beautiful wedding they created for Nate and me. When Katie brought my bridal bouquet to me, I just squealed with excitement! It was beyond perfect. Along with looking at my flowers, my other favorite part of the day was seeing the design of the reception space. As we stepped into the Yellowstone Room at Sage, it felt as if we were stepping into a a magnificent garden.

My husband and I were married on April 17, 2021, in Paradise Valley, though we were supposed to have our wedding on April 25, 2020. We chose to postpone our big day because of the pandemic-related restrictions, just as many couples planning to be married in 2020 were forced to do. This turned out to be such a blessing and an integral part of our journey. During that year between postponing our original date and our rescheduled date, I ended up in the hospital for some medical issues. After that experience, we decided we had waited long enough to be married and went to the courthouse on July 13, 2020. Our photographer was so kind to come and capture that day for us, and we cherish those memories. This was such a fun little secret we kept from most of our extended family and friends and didn't announce we were married all that time until the week of our wedding at Sage Lodge." –Morgan, the bride
