A Stunning Fall Wedding In the Bitterroot Valley | Miaken + Sean

Sunlit skies and golden hues poured over Miaken + Sean's ceremony on land passed down through their family for generations. Pockets of rich, summery florals and carefully chosen, nostalgic intricacies made this day in Darby, Montana, all the two had dreamed of. Photography by Renske Photo.

"Sean and I met about twelve years ago on a film set. Back then, we were just friends and trusted coworkers. Fast forward twelve years with new life circumstances, and we reconnected. Our first date was eight hours long, so we both knew from day one this was something special. He proposed to me in my happy place, Montana, on top of a mountain that’s been my family’s land for generations. We went up the logging road to the top of the mountain on his dirt bike, and while I was looking out at the view, I turned to see him on his knee. I almost couldn’t believe it. Lots of happy tears that day."

Wedding Day

"It was an absolute dream. Pure magic to be in my happiest of places with all of our favorite people. The weather was perfect, the light was golden and the river was sparkling. It felt so special — I’m not even sure words can describe it. It felt like my grandparents — who bought and cultivated the land we were married on — were there with us, and that felt priceless. Everyone in attendance seemed to feel the same, and it was just such a special day for everyone.

We are so grateful for all of our vendors ... and we’re reminded why Montana is the best place on earth: the people! Every vendor was incredible to work with and helped us make our dreamy day a reality. From the cake, to the restroom trailer, it was all top notch and they just made it so easy. I’m especially grateful to our wedding planner, Christianna, for helping everything go so smoothly — we would have been lost without her! Our photographer, Renske, captured our day so beautifully, and we will absolutely cherish those photos the rest of our lives. And people still talk about how good the pizza was, which made everything that much more enjoyable. Good food is everything!" -Miaken, the bride
