A gorgeous vintage-inspired gown and jewel-toned bridesmaids dresses made this Big Sky wedding a knockout. Photography by Infinite Photography & Film.
"Brett and I met in the small midwest town of Great Bend, Kansas. I was working for a local business between my freshman and sophomore years of college. A handsome sales rep kept giving me his business card when he would stop by. After almost a year and four business cards later, I finally got the hint. We went to the movies for our first date. The following fall, I was headed to Kansas State University which was two hours away from Brett. Needless to say we put many miles on our vehicles. My senior year I was given the opportunity of a lifetime, an internship at The Trove West in Big Sky, Montana. Through the summer of 2018 Brett came to visit me in Montana and we both fell in love with Montana and went on many adventures together exploring all that Montana has to offer.
Fast forward a year, and Brett and I planned a trip back to Big Sky in October 2019, and we couldn’t wait to get back and visit our friends. After arriving, we decided to take a hike on one of our favorite hikes at Ousel Falls trail in the beautiful snow. As we hiked with our Bernese Mountain dog, Sulli, I took in all of the magic of Montana I had missed. Little did I know Brett had something even better planed. We had reached the waterfall and I had my back turned to Brett as I looked for a place to put my camera to get a picture of the three of us. I turned around and Brett was down on one knee! It seemed as though the world had stopped around us. Just us in our favorite place in the world. It couldn’t have been more perfect. He proposed and placed the ring on my finger, and we kissed in the crisp autumn air.
After some thought, we decided that Big Sky would be the perfect place to bring our family and friends together to witness our marriage. My Mom and I began to plan a destination wedding, 18 hours from our home in Kansas. It was an interesting process, during a pandemic, but God blessed our plans and we headed to Montana the first week of September. We found a wonderful place, Buck's T-4 Lodge, for our wedding and reception. We were married in their beautiful wedding garden, surrounded by everyone we loved the most.
Brett and I where giddy with excitement to start this new chapter in our lives. We wrote our vows for each other and were married by our family's pastor, Jon Kelly. After a magic kiss we became Mr. and Mrs. McCue and took our first steps together as one. Sayida, our photographer, whisked us away to take our couples photos. With the beautiful mountains as our backdrop, it felt as though we were in a dream. It was perfect having a few quiet moments to ourselves to soak it all in. After that, we were headed off to the reception to celebrate. My Dad had cut cedar slabs from a tree on our land in Kansas and there was one on each table with beautiful local flowers and soft candlelight. We loved being able to celebrate with the ones we loved with many laughs and a few happy tears. Our Montana wedding was a dream come true." – Kallie, the bride
