"Surrounded by the smokey haze of Montana wildfires, the inspiration from this shoot came alive with multiple vendors across the state. We wanted to create a classic, timeless, and elegant Montana styled shoot to showcase vendors who have built their business from the ground up.

From the brand-new wedding venue built this year overlooking Lake Helena, to the florist who planted every single plant we used from seed or bulb, to a man who hand-made the beautiful walnut table, each vendor was hand-picked because of their gifted and dedicated talent to Montana's wedding industry. The idea of this colorful and classic shoot came during the throws of the Covid crisis, when we realized that we all wanted to celebrate each other’s talents in a world that seemed to be a whirlwind of chaos. We wanted to create a styled shoot that incorporated the elegance of fine art stationery, coupled with the colorful florals of sage, plum, and rust that celebrate Montana’s beautiful landscape. We also wanted to capture the essence of what it means to be married in Montana – a wild and beautiful place, much like the long horn cattle that surrounded us on the shoot. Our goal was not only to collaborate, but to celebrate each other at the end of a whirlwind wedding season, by sharing the delicious charcuterie board and chocolate cake at the end of the shoot. We stayed together after the shoot was done to take the time to celebrate life that we share in this fantastic state, as well as learning to find fun in an industry that often times overwhelms us as vendors. The night ended surrounded by majestic long horn cattle and a setting sun that kissed our skin as we hugged goodbye – wishing each other lots of rest in the coming months as we look toward a new year of weddings in the future. It was a night well spent – full of celebrating our great community of talented Montana wedding vendors." –Kelly Van Dyke Photography
