Cowboy Wedding In Big Sky | Kelly + Ethan

After a courthouse wedding for this military family, Kelly and Ethan threw a beautiful celebration for their family and friends in Big Sky. Photography by Montana Bride Vendor Capture Now Studios.

"We met right before Ethan was deployed (Naval EOD Officer) to Bahrain. We both weren’t 'looking' for anything and naturally, things work out just the way they’re supposed to. Ethan proposed at Everett’s 8800 at Big Sky Resort in 2018. We froze our butts off (pre-bubble chair!) on the way up. We were legally married shortly thereafter – due to being a Navy family! – but didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends. This Big Sky party was our in-person wedding celebration in a place that is near and dear to us, with folks coming from as far away as Germany to celebrate.

Much of the inspiration came from Etsy and Pinterest. We did a lot of DIY and found most everything on Etsy, Walmart, and local thrift shops. The wedding industry puts so much pressure on brides to do everything, and we just wanted to keep it simple. 'Rustic Meets Boho' was the theme, and I think our vision came to life. Having the ceremony (vow renewal) at the Soldiers Chapel was symbolic/special for our military family. Lincoln (our rescue pittie) was also in our wedding. He was walked down the aisle by his two amazing foster parents, who have watched him while Ethan and I were stationed in Germany. It was a magical day to celebrate our marriage and a heck of a lot more fun than the San Diego Courthouse back in 2018!" – Kelly, the bride
